What makes The Specialists different?
We’re not a big clinic. We’re real people who care deeply about kids and families - and we’re building The Specialists to be the kind of therapy experience we’d want for our own families.
Here’s what sets us apart:
- No waitlists – You shouldn’t have to wait months for help.
- In-home and virtual care – We meet kids where they feel safest.
- Strengths-first therapy – We focus on what your child can do, not just what they can’t (no deficit mindset here).
- Truly personalized plans – Every child is different, so our sessions are too.
- Family-centered approach – You’re not just along for the ride - you’re our partner in this. We give you the tools and skills you need to continue to support your child even when we’re not there.
- We’re people first – No scrubs, no buzzwords, just passionate therapists who love what we do and lead with heart.
We believe therapy should be fun for kids and feel like a breath of fresh air for families- and we’re honored to be part of your child’s journey.

Do you accept insurance?
At The Specialists, we’ve chosen not to bill insurance- and that’s intentional.
Insurance companies follow a deficit-based medical model, meaning a child must first “fail” or fall far enough behind to qualify for services. Only then can therapy begin, and even then, it must focus on what’s “wrong” rather than what’s possible.
We believe in something better.
By operating outside of insurance, we’re able to:
- Support children before a delay becomes a barrier
- Focus on strengths, not just symptoms
- Build flexible, family-centered plans that aren’t dictated by diagnosis codes or rigid treatment timelines
This freedom allows us to meet your child where they are, honor their unique profile, and create care that reflects your goals - not an insurance company’s checklist.
You deserve support that sees your child’s full potential from the start. That’s exactly what we offer.
-
What are your hours?
We offer flexible scheduling, including weekday evenings and weekends. Availability varies slightly by location and therapist, but we will work with you to find a time that fits your family’s routine.
-
Where do you offer services?
We provide in-home therapy throughout Southeast Michigan and offer virtual sessions for families across the state. Therapy happens where your child feels most comfortable- at home or online.
-
Do you have experience with kids like mine?
Yes! Our team has years of experience working with children with a wide range of needs - including autism, sensory differences, speech delays, AAC users, and highly verbal kids with social or emotional challenges. We tailor therapy to meet each child where they are, no matter the starting point.
